SB 409 – Local Impact from Large Landfills is scheduled for committee hearing 1/2 hour after adjournment on Tuesday, January 21, 2020. The hearing will be held in Senate Room A. We are asking as many as possible to be there to support and talk before the committee. If you have a “Don’t Trash VA” t-shirt please wear it. If you would like one, just drop us an e-mail.
There are things we can do prior to the hearing on Tuesday to include (1) contacting the members of the Ag Committee who will be hearing the case; (2) contact your local delegate and senator and ask them to support the bill; and, (3) visit the General Assembly and let your voice be heard.
Your e-mail, phone call, your letter can be simple. For example: “We are residents of ____________County and want to urge you to pass SB409 out of committee. This Bill is a small step in the right direction to manage the impact of mega-landfills on the health of residents, roadway safety, and environmental impact. Virginia’s Code for landfills is severely outdated (20 years old). Thank you for considering this request.”

Thank you for your support. More information concerning this bill and other items can be obtained at http://VirginiaGeneralAssembly.gov.
