Our goal is to start doing a weekly post just to keep you informed on what is happening with stopping the proposed mega-landfill in Cumberland County, Virginia.
The Virginia General Assembly is still in succession and will be for a couple more weeks. We have their attention about the need to do something concerning landfills in Virginia. This is evidenced by both House Bill 1038 and Senate Bill 409 being carried over to 2021. It is time to continue to write letters to your Delegates and Senators at both the State and Federal levels. It is time to continue to write local government officials such as Board of Supervisors and County Administrators about your concerns. Not only to voice your concerns but to also request a response in writing.
Another important thing to do since the Notice of Intent and Part A have been submitted to the Department of Environment Control (DEQ), is to review this information and if you questions or do not understand something, submit your questions to both DEQ and Green Ridge/County Waste. If you submitted prior questions to the DEQ or Green Ridge/County Waste or County officials review them and ensure their answers to your questions are adequate and fully address your concerns. If not, resubmit them to the appropriate people, either the DEQ or Green Ridge/County Waste or the County. Silence is golden in some cases, but not this one. LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!!!
CCLA’s Leadership Team continues to be hard at work. We are now in the process of reviewing the information submitted by Green Ridge/County Waste to the DEQ. This is a slow task as the report covers a lot of areas. If you like to do research, please send us an e-mail and we can assign you a task.
Your continued support and concern is so important in this endeavor without it we would not be where we are today. Thank You.
