Mark your calendars and plan to attend the Townhall Community Meeting on March 8, 2020. Senator Hashmi, from District 10, is our Guest Speaker. You may recall she is the patron of Senate Bill 409 which is carried over to the 2021 General Assembly session. Senator Hashmi attended some of our meetings prior to her election to the Virginia Senate, and continues to support our endeavor to STOP this proposed mega-landfill from becoming a reality.
Please note, the March 7th Community Townhall Meeting will start immediately at 3 p.m. as Senator Hashmi has another function to attend. It is unusual for Delegates and Senators to make speaking engagements while the General Assembly is in session. We are very grateful to her for taking the time to speak to our meeting.
The Farmville Herald published an article this week about the sale of Green Ridge/County Waste to Green for Life (GFL) out of Canada and the effects, if any, on the Host Agreement. Don’t be discouraged by this or other articles you may read or stories you may hear. This is a major undertaking and will not be settled in a day or two. Remember the proposed mega landfill is NOT A DONE DEAL UNTIL THE FIRST TRASH IS PUT IN IT!!!!
GFL is trying again next week to obtain an IPO (Initial Public Offering) on the stock market. This is at least their third attempt in a fairly short period of time. Attached is one of several articles available on the internet about this potential action.
