We hope this post finds you and your family doing well and healthy in these difficult times. The coronavirus has necessitated we all make drastic changes in our lives, business and personal. CCLA is not immune to the mandates and we have made several changes. The Leadership Team continues to meet weekly but we are now doing it via phone conferencing and e-mail. We cannot let our guard down and must continue to let Green Ridge/County Waste/GFL know we are actively opposing the proposed mega-landfill in Cumberland County.
CCLA’s monthly Townhall Community meetings are cancelled until the ban on group meetings is released by Governor Northam. However, we do plan on doing at least weekly posts on the website, facebook, and e-mails. For those who do not have access to the internet, we plan on doing phone calls and sending newsletters with updates. Our goal is to keep informed and up-to-date as we continue to fight the proposed mega-landfill.
The DEQ public informational meeting for March 25, 2020 was postponed indefinitely. As things start to get back to some degree of normal, we will work with DEQ to reschedule the meeting. In the meantime, we are in contact with DEQ to obtain answers to several different questions of the the Leadership Team and provide updates as appropriate.
We continue to work with our legal counsel and others in researching, documenting, and preparing responses to the Notice of Intent (NOI) and Part A application made by Green Ridge/County Waste/GFL to the DEQ. That being said, if you have some time to complete some research, please send us an e-mail. We are researching various areas and could use your help.
Fundraising events are on hold at this time. Therefore, it is necessary for us to look for other avenues of obtaining funds and ask for your continued support. T-shirts and yard sales are still available for purchase or you can make a donation through PayPal on this website or mail it to P.O. Box 238, Cumberland, VA.
Please follow the guidance provided to fight this pandemic – wash your hands often, stay home, etc. Most of all, take the necessary steps and stay HEALTHY.
If you have any suggestions or questions, please contact us. We are available by e-mail, facebook, or regular mail.
