Welcome to May – it was a beautiful, sunny weekend. We hope everyone was able to take advantage of it and spend some time outside. The Leadership Team did. Instead of meeting by phone on Saturday, we met at one of the Team member’s residence – outside. Of course, social distancing was in place and we numbered less than 10.

Speaking of meetings – a big THANKS to those who attended our virtual Townhall Community Meeting on 4-26-2020. We appreciate your participation and we feel it was a success, but not as good as meeting in person. Not sure we will have a meeting in May at this point, but for sure we will have one in June. The June meeting may be an in-person meeting or a virtual one, or a combination of the two. We will keep you posted as we find out more as a lot will depend on what meeting restrictions are in place at the time.
Several people made donations after the virtual meeting. We greatly appreciate your support as we are entering a different phase of this battle to keep our environment safe and clean, not only for us but for future generations. We not only have increased legal costs but are also in negotiations with other specialists to help us in this fight to STOP the DUMP. This is a project that not only affects local people in Cumberland and Powhatan counties, but all of Virginia.
Volunteers are an important component in this endeavor. We need people to assist with research, write letters, advertising, attend meetings, and other areas. Just let us know by sending us an e-mail at NoMegaLandfill@LoveCentralVA.com. All e-mails will be answered by a member of the Leadership Team. $$ donations can be made through this website just by hitting the DONATE button.
The Leadership Team continues to work on several things at this time. We are waiting for a response from DEQ on our letter concerning the landfill site suitability, we are waiting for a response from Cumberland County on two different items, and we continue our search for specialists to assist in different areas. Until the next update, please stay safe, healthy, and virus free.
