The past week was very hot weather wise. We hope everyone is handling the heat okay and staying cool and healthy. Hopefully, we will get some much needed rain soon and some cooler temperatures.

TWO ARTICLES OF INTEREST IN THE FARMVILLE HERALD LAST WEEK
There were two article of interest in the Farmville Herald newspaper last week. The first appeared in the Wednesday, July 15th edition and was titled “Green Ridge letter, report released”. This article addressed two items related to Green Ridge: (1) a report released by the company examining the demographic and economic make-up of the area surrounding the proposed mega landfill in Cumberland County; and (2) a letter from the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to Green Ridge asking for more information and/or clarification of items in the Notice of Intent (NOI) submitted earlier this year. The link to the DEQ letter was in last week’s post.
The second article was in Friday, July 17th edition and was titled “Email threatens to lynch former Cumberland supervisors”. This article was based on things that happened at the Cumberland County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, July 14, 2020. As stated in the article, “Cumberland County Landfill Alert disavows any connection with the crude reference to lynching in the message to the Cumberland County Board of Supervisors and the individual, whoever he or she is, who made such a statement.”
You can read both these articles by going to https://www.farmvilleherald.com and putting in the subject. Alexa done an excellent of reporting in these two articles.
NOT A SPRINT BUT A MARATHON
As we start into our third year of opposing the proposed mega landfill in Cumberland County, we have to remember it is not sprint but a marathon. We must remain steadfast and keep moving forward. Your continued support of time and $$ is greatly appreciated and with it we will achieve our goal – NO MEGA LANDFILL IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY – it is not good for our environment or quality of life here in Virginia!!
