It was a beautiful weekend, hope everyone enjoyed the sunshine and cooler temperatures. Tomorrow is the first day of Fall 2020.
New Information on the DEQ Green Ridge Website
On September 17, 2020, a letter was sent by DEQ to Green Ridge. The subject of the letter was “Request for Additional Information: 20-1619 Green Ridge Recycling and Disposal Facility”. The letter was signed by Justin Brown with the Virginia Water Protection Program division of the DEQ. It was an 8-page letter requesting additional information from Green Ridge. The letter is attached below and you can read all the new information on DEQ’s Green Ridge site by going to https://www.deq.virginia.gov/GreenRidgeLandfill.aspx
AMMD Hosting a Voter Resignation Drive
This event will take place on Saturday, September 25, 2020, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Historic Pine Grove Rosenwald School, 267 Pinegrove Road, Cumberland. No need to get out of your vehicle to register. But if you prefer, you can go inside and complete an application online.
The event includes a book giveaway for home libraries. This is important since most of the children are going to the school virtually and do not easily have access to a library.
Plan to come out and support this worthy cause. Election day is only 6 weeks away!

Taking this opportunity to say “THANK YOU” and let you know how much we appreciate your continued support. Together, we can and will, stop the proposed mega landfill from becoming a reality in Cumberland County. Sometimes it may seem like we are not succeeding but here is a key point to remember – the Notice of Intent (NOI) is not approved as of today.
