Senate bills 1186, 1200, and 1319 were heard by the Senate Ag Committee this morning at 8 a.m. The Committee hearing is done. Senator Hashmi did an excellent job but unfortunately Green Ridge got to the Senators and they approached it as related to Cumberland County instead of statewide.
Eurika Tyree & Brian Stanley, Cumberland County Board of Supervisors spoke in opposition SB1319 and were both were allowed to speak longer than others who supported the bill. Senator Hashmi had a lot of very good support and SB1319 passed the committee by a vote of 9 in favor of the bill and 6 against. There were a couple of changes – one being the prohibition of new or expansion of current landfills. The other two bills failed and were Passed By Indefinitely (PBI).
The fight to stop this environment disaster continues and we will be successful. One reason, we are concerned about more than $$ – we value our environment, our way of life, etc. We MUST stay united and continue to oppose this project.
Thank you for your support.
